- The most common query I receive from customers is, "Why doesn't the AS setting work?" AS is the setting to use for the AudioStrobe disks. Put the disk into your CD player and connect the player to your Proteus with the connection lead. The Proteus should be set to "AS" (although it does look rather like "A5"). You don't need to press start on the Proteus. The trick is balancing the input volume from the CD player to make it high enough for the inaudible signal (inaudible to you) to be audible to the Proteus. Then, adjust the volume and brightness output on the Proteus according to preference.
- Buy everything by Jonathan Goldman, I especially recommend "Ultimate Om" and "Trance Tara." Don't use these on the Audiostrobe setting ("AS") as the signal isn't strong enough, so use on either setting 11 (deep meditation - 1 hour) or 47 (sleep - 1 hour). Goldman's music and other great CDs can be found here: Etherean Music Website.
- Timothy Leary's "Tune in, Turn on, Drop Out" CD is an excellent meta-programming product. Use this on any of the one hour sessions. I prefer it at night on the 1 hour sleep session.
- Create a repeating audio loop. John Lilly's "Cogitate" loop is worth creating or downloading from the web. Experiment: Set the flash rate to match the audio repetition speed. WARNING: Read this first: Epilepsy and Flash Rate John Lilly's website can be found here: John C. Lilly Website
- Other music titles to look out for come from the 4AD record label - home of the famous "Pixies". I highly recommend everything by: "This Mortal Coil" (not a band as such, but the 4AD collective), Cocteau Twins and Dead Can Dance (Esp. "The Serpents Egg").
- It's very tempting to rely on using the Proteus whilst lying down or sitting in a comfy chair. This often leads one into the altered state called, "Sleep". Instead, try using a meditation stool or simply kneeling on a suitable cushion/mat.

I've received reports from users that initially they experience a sense of disorientation and confusion that is not entirely pleasant the first time they use the Alpha Stim. When you first start using the Alpha Stim, do not use it whilst working, driving, concentrating etc, only use it when you are in "down time." The sense of disorientation is rapidly releived if you do the following: gently throw a ball hand to hand whilst looking ahead so the ball is in your peripheral vision. Allow your eyes to defocus.
Some people find that using the Alpha Stim at night "wakes them up", whilst others find that it is permits them to sleep. You may need to experiment with the times of day that you use the Alpha Stim to gain the best response for you.
